Even if you're not inclined to believe in things that go bump in the night, when you're sitting at home alone on Halloween night, and your cat all of a sudden starts staring intently at what appears to be nothing, and you also hear something --which you hope is your other cat -- thumping around upstairs, it is mildly spooky.
Plus I'm also watching an obviously Halloween-themed episode of Good Eats that's about garlic featuring an off-camera vampire-type character. So it kind of rounds out the experience.
