It probably says a lot about me that I spent far more time today doing some techie code tweaking to this blog than I have spent actually updating it in the last few months. Overhauled the comment system and the email notification system, stuff like that. Now, I need to post more stuff for people to comment on and be notified of.
Of course, staying inside to work on all that was easy today on this cool, dreary, rainy day. We must be paying for all that relatively mild weather we had here this winter. It has been cold (as in, high temperatures in the 40s or maybe 50s) and rainy all week. In May. That's bad even for Michigan. This is usually March or April weather. It's been raining since Wednesday almost nonstop, and it's supposed to keep raining. It's even thunderstroming now in addition to the heavy rain.
By contrast, New Smyrna Beach, Florida, where my dad decided to flee after his recent retirement, hasn't had much rain at all, and is several inches below the normal rainfall for the year. Which means they've been having lots of forest fires and stuff lately, bad enough to shut down the only real highway, I-95, on several days. Fortunately not anywhere too close to my dad's place, though. I'll bet they could use some of the ungodly amount of rain we've been getting. Feast or famine, I guess.
