Sadly, so-called "reality TV" shows are becoming more popular by the day. NBC's Donald Trump-fest "The Apprentice" has prompted the local Detroit ABC afilliate, WXYZ Channel 7, to create its own version, called "The Intern."
"The Intern" features six local "hotshot" law students who vie for a supposedly coveted internship with infamous local attorney Geoffrey Fieger. Fieger first gained notoriety for his representation of the even more infamous "Dr. Death," Dr. Jack Kevorkian, who is currently serving a sentence for murder in a Michigan prison. Later, he ran for Governor of Michigan, and lost in a landside. Fieger has degrees in drama from my beloved alma mater, the University of Michigan, and earned a law degree from the Detroit College of Law, which is now known as the Michigan State University College of Law. Fieger is well known for his outspoken brand of law practice, and, one might say, he rather relishes the spotlight. And now, Channel 7 has given him yet another one in the form of "The Intern."
I could go on and on about this. I guess, in the end, though, res ipsa loquitur.
